Battery Cleaning: How to clean a Battery containing Corroded Alkaline Batteries. Cleaning the Battery compartment following these steps should not affect the recording. Put on Disposable Protective Gloves (Rubber, Nitrile or other Material). Open the Battery compartment containing the Damaged Batteries. Carefully remove the Damaged Batteries and Place each Battery in a Separate Plastic bag.

Servicing: Use a Disposable Towel to Brush away any Loose CorrosIon (white solid). Place a small amount of White Vinegar into a small Container such as a Bowl. Using a Cotton Swab, Moisten the tip with Vinegar and carefully Wipe the Corroded contacts. Repeat as necessary to remove all of the white residue.


Cleaning: Using a Fresh Cotton Swab, Moisten the tip with Water and Wipe the Contacts again to remove the Vinegar residue. Dry the contacts with a Disposable Towel or Fresh Cotton Swab and place new Batteries into the compartment. Wipe down the work area with a Damp cloth. Dispose of all used items. Take the bagged Batteries to your local Battery Recycling or Hazardous Waste Drop off center.
