How is a Copper Wire made:
After electrowinning and smelting Process, pure Copper ions are made to electronically
swing between anodes. The cathodes thus formed are turned into Wires. Copper is drawn
to make different gauge Wires. After Copper Wire drawing, the Wire becomes extremely
thin and malleable.
AC Wire Type Choices:
AC Wiring can be accomplished with a number of materials depending on situation and
local code requirements. The most accepted method from the JBOX to the combiner or
disconnect switch is 12AWG THHN (Stranded 12 gauge) Copper in conduit. You ca not
really go wrong with that.
What are the types of Wire:
Low-Voltage Wiring is used for circuits typically requiring 50 volts or less.
Three common types are landscape lighting Wire, sprinkler system connections,
bell Wire (for doorbells), speaker system Wires, and thermostat Wires.
Wire sizes range from about 22 gauge to 12 gauge.
Difference between Wire and Cable:
They are often confused, but in fact, they are quite different. A Wire is a single
conductor (material most commonly being Copper or aluminium) while Cable is two
or more insulated Wires wrapped in one jacket. Multiple conductors that have no
Insulation around would be classified as a single conductor.
Wiring System classified into Five Categories:
Cleat Wiring, Casing Wiring, Batten Wiring, Conduit Wiring, Concealed Wiring.
Different sizes of Electrical Wires:
Common sizes include 14-, 12-, 10-, 8-, 6-, and 2-gauge Wire. The size of the Wire
dictates how much current can safely pass through the Wire. Electrical current is
measured in ampacity, and each Wire gauge has a maximum safe carrying capacity.
Power cord called:
A power cord with a country specific standard power plug attached on one end and
a c13 power cord coupler to the other is generally called an IEC cord or computer
power cord as it is majorly used in computer applications.

PVC coated Electrical Wires are used in both the domestic and industrial segments.
You can start the business as small and after getting the confidence you
can scale up.
What are the 3 types of Wires:
The electric power line enters our house through three Wires- namely
the live Wire, the neutral Wire and the earth Wire.
To avoid confusion we follow a colour code for Insulating these Wires.
The red Wire is the live Wire, and the black Wire is neutral.
The earth Wire is given green plastic Insulation.
Electrical Cable Types:
Coaxial Cable – used for radio frequency signals,
for example in Cable television distribution systems.
Communications Cable. Direct-buried Cable.
Flexible Cables. Heliax Cable.
Non-metallic sheathed Cable (or nonmetallic building Wire, NM, NM-B).
Metallic sheathed Cable (or armored Cable, AC, or BX).
Copper Wire Manufacturing Process:
Crushing, mining, and grinding of Copper.
Turning into Copper cathode. There is an involvement of various

What are Cables and Wires made of:
Electrical conductors are made up of metals such as, Copper, Aluminum, etc.
These metals are used to make Wires. Most Wires are made out of Copper because
it conducts Electricity with high flexibility and very little resistance.
The first stage in the manufacturing Process of a conductor
is the Wire-drawing.
How can you tell the quality of Copper Cable:
The multimeter is probably the most basic and widely used field tester.
Available in analog and digital varieties, multimeters measure Voltage,
current, and resistance in Copper Wires. By using a shorting device on
one end of the pair, you can also test continuity.
How is Cable Insulation made:
The next Process in the Manufacture of Electrical Cables is the Insulation.
This is when we place an Insulating cover over the conductor to prevent
current Leakages. In this Process, the Insulating material is added by
a Process of extrusion at high temperature. The Insulation ensures there
are no current Leakages.
What type of Electrical Wire is used in homes:
In terms of home Electrical Wire, you will usually be working with 12 or
14 gauge Wire. But for appliances, you'll be using 10, 8, or 6 gauge.
Things like stoves, water heaters, dryers, and air conditioning units
use these Larger Gauges because they require a lot of amperages.
What is 22 AWG Wire used for:
In general, thicker Wire can carry more current. Here at SparkFun, we
typically use 22 AWG Wire for prototyping and breadboarding. When using
a breadboard or PCB, solid core is perfect because it fits nicely
into the holes.
Types of Wire:
Fuse Wire. Fuse Wire has a low resistance to allow normal current
to pass safely through it, but if there is a short circuit that causes
a higher Voltage current to pass through it, the fuse Wire can't withstand
the heat, so it melts and breaks the circuit.
Magnet Wire. Stranded. Litz Wire. Tinsel Wire. Braided.
What are the sizes of Electrical Wire:
The most common sizes you will find in residential work are 14-gauge
and 12-gauge. Larger appliances such as electric stoves, electric water
heaters, electric dryers and central air units will often use 10-, 8- or
even 6-gauge Wire.
What are the sizes of Electrical Cables:
Aside form the 3 most commonly used Cable sizes of 1, 1.5 and 2.5mm twin
and earth there are in fact several other Larger sizes of Cable that
include 4mm, 6mm, 10mm and 16mm. These are mostly used for appliances
and objects that require much more Electrical power to operate or special
use situations.
Which Wire is used in AC:
In the United States, AC Wires are color coded for safety. In the case of
a 110V home Electrical circuit, the colors indicate the function of each Wire.
The black Wire is always going to be the hot Wire, holding Electricity. The
black Wire will never be used for neutral or grounding purposes.
