is a back breaking, and Painstaking process. Pineapples take 18 to 24 months to fully grow.
Pineapples grow low to the ground; the part that people eat actually grows in the ground.
Canning process of Pineapple:
Pineapples, unlike most other Fruit, contain an Enzyme called Bromelain, that breaks up the
gelatin into it's amino acid building blocks. If you use Canned Pineapple, you can combine
the two without a problem. During the Canning process the Pineapple gets heated and
the Bromelain breaks apart.
How are Pineapples packaged:
Pineapples are packaged in corrugated board cartons, Crates and Fruit Crates. Since
Pineapples can rapidly develop "Pressure sores" under their own considerable weight,
they are not generally packaged on their sides, but rather upright in telescope cartons
of the "Japanese Garden" type.
Is Canned Pineapple as good as Fresh:
I should mention, however, that Frozen Pineapple does not taste nearly as good as Fresh,
or even Canned. Canned Pineapple contains 2.4 grams of Fiber, only a little bit more
than Fresh. The carbs, calories and Sugar are a different matter.
When should you pick a Pineapple:
Pineapples are ripe and ready to Harvest when the entire outer skin develops a yellowish
Color and a Pineapple smell and the flesh is an orange-yellow Color. It's best to allow
the Fruit to fully ripen on the plant because once picked, it won't get any sweeter,
although the outer skin will continue to ripen.
Canned Pineapple for Pineapple Water:
To make Pineapple Water you can use Fresh Pineapple Chunks from a whole Fruit. You can
use Canned Pineapple Chunks but it wouldn' t be the same because for one, they add Sugar,
and secondly nothing beats a ripe Fresh Pineapple to make this Pineapple infused Water.
