Poultry Feed: You will find many different
Poultry feed recipes online. You will also want to study the Ingredients in
commercial Poultry feed to get an idea of what percentages to aim for. If
you are a little lower in Protein than commercial brands. Here are some of
the Ingredients you should consider putting into your Chicken feed. Your
custom mix should be made up of what's best for you and your Chickens.
Main Feed for Chickens:
Wheat, Chicken feed, Things to Add to Chicken Feed
Oyster shell (calcium, free feed)
Grit, Salt, Alfalfa Meal (high Protein, good for winter)
Corn (a mainstay for Chickens, store whole)
Field peas (for Protein, to avoid soybean use)

Oats and/or barley (less than 15 percent of the total diet)
Aragonite or feeding limestone (for calcium, not necessary)
Probiotic, Kelp (a mineral source)
Crab Meal (small amounts provide Protein and minerals)
Flaxseed (omega-3, feed whole to avoid rancidity)
Broad-spectrum mineral supplement
Fish Meal (helps boost Protein and omega-3s)
Cultured Yeast (B vitamins, minerals, and digestive enzymes)
Equipment Needed
Store Grains in Bags:
Storage for the bags of grains you buy. Consider building a storage bin with
partitions for each of your grains and a lid on the top. If you can use a sliding
gate at the bottom to dispense the grain, you can naturally rotate the grains.
Raise Chickens on Pasture:
One really easy way to feed your Chickens and reduce the amount of Chicken feed
required is to raise them on pasture. This is the most natural diet Chickens can
eat. As long as they have enough acreage or consistently fresh pasture, Chickens
can self-regulate. It is easy for them to find enough insects, bugs, weeds,
grasses and seeds to stay healthy.

Oilseed Meals make up 20-30% of a Poultry diet.
How do you make Chicken feed:
Ingredients: 4 cups oat groats, 4 cups black oil sunflower seeds.
4 cups hard red wheat berries, 2 cups soft white wheat berries.
2 cups kamut, 2 cups millet, 2 cups whole corn, 1 cup lentils.
Different types of Chicken feed:
Chicken and Poultry feed comes in three forms: crumbles, pellets, and Mash.
Crumbles are excellent if you can get them, but pellets are sometimes the
only form available. Mash is usually used for baby chicks, but it can be
mixed with warm water to make a thick oatMeal-like treat for Chickens.

Quality Feed. You do not have to go crazy with some cutting edge feed
that is guaranteed to make your Chickens produce Eggs the size of a garden gnome.
Clean Nests Boxes, Open Areas, Calcium, Inspect Regularly, Coop Security,
Fresh Water, Parasite Control.

How many times a day should I feed my Chickens:
Feed your Chickens at regular times each day.
A good format to follow is to top their feed up in the mornings and let them
out for 30 to 60 mins in the late afternoon. Usually they will go into their
pen as night falls, or offer their scraps after their time out to encourage
them back in.
What is Chicken Mash feed:
Mash. Mash is a loose, unprocessed form of Chicken feed that is commonly fed
to baby chicks since it is very easy to digest. Mash varieties of Chicken feed
are suitable for Chickens of any age. Mash can also be combined with hot water
to create feed with a porridge-like texture that many Chickens love.
What is the best thing to feed Chickens for Eggs:
Very Good Greens. Vibrant leafy green vegetables like spinach, pak choi,
silverbeet, kale or millet are a great treat for your laying hens.
Fruits for Feathers, Motivating Mealworms.
Adding goodies to your chooks water supply is a cluckin good way to keep your
Chickens happy and healthy.
Do you add water to Chicken Mash:
Layers Mash for Chickens is used to provide laying birds extra nutrients
and vitamins not provided by staple foods such as mixed corn. To use this
layers Mash simply mix with water before providing to your birds.
